Why do we as Americans have PLENTY of money for the things we want, but never for the things we need?

i’m no american but i can say filipinos are like that too. We spend our money on what we want rather on what we need. It’s really silly. I don’t know if you guys know this but.. Did you know, in Philippines everybody has a cellphone. Even the poor people. Sometimes the ‘below average’(in money terms ) people have better cellphones than I have. Haha. And the mall is always full! Everbody goes to the mall and splurge and stuff. You’d even see ‘poor’ or ‘below average’ people in the lavishest malls. It’s ridiculous.

Everybody does that thing. We complain and grumble that we dont have certain stuff.. We spend (a lot!) for what we want that when the time comes that we have to spend for what we need, well, a fly flies outta your wallet. Hehe

Not only Americans have that sort of erm.. behavior.. every other race has that sort of attitude/problem/whatever
